Setup Guide

What kind of hosting service do i need to use this theme?

You need PHP 5.2 or higher installed on your hosting and you need to be able to change read/write permission of your files. Also you need wordpress 3.9 or higher installed on your server.

Instalation:

First Download & Install WordPress 3.9 (or higher).
Upload “scooter” folder via FTP into [wordpress folder] /wp-content/themes/

Notice: After uploading theme to your hosting you must:

Set CHMOD 775 to folder “your_site/wp-content/themes/scooter/”

In “Appearance > Themes > Manage Themes > Available Themes” activate “Scooter” by hitting appropriate “Activate” link.

How does Scooter work

Scooter is mostly using shortcodes to create different pages/section, but it also uses 2 page templates for creating contents. You can either create sections to be used in main page or use it as extra page. This feature gives you a powerful yet simple platform to build different pages/sections the way you like it.

Page templates:

Main page: This template is used to create a main page which shows different sections.

Default template: This template is for creating different sections which can be shown in main page or be shown as external page. 

 

Sections: Here is the sections which you can use to create main page sections or external pages.

Shortcodes:

You should use different shortcodes to create contents in custom sections. These shortcodes includes:

We will explain each shortcode for you in shortcodes section.

 

How to create a Main page

To create a main page, go to "Pages > add new" and from the templates, choose Main page. Now all you have to do is to give this page a name and press publish.

How to create a blog section or blog page

Go to "Pages > add new", the template should be set to "default template",  set the section type to Blog section. You can choose a custom title in title section and choose to show the blog section in main page or as an external page. Also you can choose to show or not to show the section in menu.

How to add posts to blog section/page?

Go to "Posts > add new",

 

 

How to create portfolio section or portfolio page

Go to "Pages > add new", the template should be set to "default template",  set the section type to portfolio section.

You're done! Now lets add some portfolio items to portfolio section.

To create a portfolio items, go to "Portfolio > add new"

 

How to add parallax section

Go to "Pages > add new", the template should be set to "default template"

How to add custom section/page and shortcode description

Custom section has the same setting as blog section, but you can use shortcodes to create your content in this section. Since the shortcodes are self explainatory, we just give you a short description of each shortcode.

Layer Slider: This shortcode will provide you a list of slideshows that are created in Layer Slider WP panel, you can choose one and insert it in your page.

Video Youtube: You can add a youtube video ID in this shortcode to add your youtube video here.

Video Vimeo: You can add a vimeo video ID in this shortcode to add your vimeo video here.

Audio SoundCloud: This shortcode is for adding a souncloud audio to you site.

Image Box: This shortcode gives you the ability to add image and text together in a beautiful style.

Text Box: This shortcode is for adding text to your website with beautiful styles.

Icon box: This shortcode is for adding icons to your website.

Counter Box: This shortcode is for creating a counter with numbers.

Pie Chart: This shortcode is for creating pie charts.

Social Link: This shortcode is for adding social network links to your website.

Button: This shortcode is for adding buttons to your website.

Separator: This shortcode is for adding separator between your website content.

Title Separator: This shortcode is for adding separators which also have title.

Tab group, Accordion and Toggle: These shortcodes are the parent shortcodes which Tab, Accordion tab and toggle tab will be used inside them.

Team Member and Team Member Icon: These shortcodes are for adding team member and some special icons for them. 

Testimonial and Testimonial Group: Testimonial is the shortcode to add people or companies opinion about you in your website, you should put testimonial inside testimonial group.  

Layout Elements: These elements are for creating rows and columns in your website which can be used for adding content. This theme is using a grid system like Bootstrap 2 which gives you amazing functionality to create layouts. You should put Spans inside Row and put Row inside Container shortcode. You can have up to 12 spans in each row of your pages. For example if you want to have a two third column + one third column, here is how you use shortcodes:

How to create video section/page

Video section is just like custom section, but you can add a video to be shown in background and put an overlay on top of it. To create a video section navigate to "Pages > add new", choose "default page template" and select "video section" from section display. Set it's setting and press publish.
